As director of my own company I already have and had a policy in place to pay out a lump sum if I died and I would have been payed had I fallen ill because I own the company. So I feel without doubt the life cover and critical illness cover were mis-sold do I have a case?

Would that be a meaty enough piece of evidence?

Possibly. However, you would have to show you were adequately insured.

To give you a rough idea, £100k of life assurance would cover £5000 of lost income. So, if you earned £50k pa and wanted £30k of income covered then you would need £600,000 sum assured. Then you add your debt coverage on top. Lost pension provision could go on top of that as well (unless you included it as income replacement).

Most people are under-insured as they only go for figures like £100k plus mortgage. If that isnt you then you may have grounds on the life assurance side.

On the CI side, then typically 4 to 10 times income is considered the sort of level you would expect. CI is not income protection. To show no CI need, that typically means you need to have savings/investments of 4 to 10 times income to show no financial need.

if my is complaint is upheld how do i work out the 8% . do i add 8% to each months payment or is 8% added to the overall amount added up ie £77.28 paid for 36 months, just need an idea of i was to be made an offer
    thank you
  • Has anyone reclaimed their halifax tmpp (total mortgage protection lan) and got a full refund of their payments ie not just the ppi element of the plan? Im making a claim and they have offered me a refund of the ppi element but you had to take out all 3 elements of the plsn together (ppi, life assurance and critical illness) so wondring if i should get a refund of all the payments?

You can never say never but odds are that there have been few if any given the very different types of insurance that the TMPP offers under segmentation.

Normally, the Halifax roll over on the PPI as auto payout but not on the non PPI elements.

Did you complain about the other bits being mis-sold?
Do you have valid reasons for the other bits being mis-sold?

Remember they are not PPI so if you made a complaint about PPI, then the other bits are not being complained about.
