realllllllllllly not sure what do next

I have a loan with the Natwest bank taken out in 2008 unbeknown to me i had ppi with the loan.just after Christmas i proceeded to reclaim the missold ppi.
Yesterday i received an offer from the natwest bank for the missold ppi of £435.00.

What i am not sure about is that after a year of having the loan i was unable to work due to ill health and was off
work for a period of 5 months and during this time i was in hospital for a period 3 months. i was unable to pay the bills including the loan, so when i was fit and able to return back to work i seeked advice from the C A B, i was told to make a token payments of half the amount of the loan.
which was declined by the bank. eventually the bank took this matter to court which resulted to having a ccj. which i am still paying monthly payments for.

surly if having the ppi on the loan at the time i was unwell and in hospital the bank would have known and advised me that
the ppi cover could have covered my monthly payments on the loan, unless( i am wrong in thinking this) which could have prevented the bank taking the matter to court and any charges and fees added to my loan.what started out £3,000.00 loan i am now owing £8,000.00 still.

can you please advise me on what i should do next. Now the bank has made an offer for the misold ppi cover
i still have the ccj and bank charges and fees can i claim these back if so what root should i proceed to take?.
would i be abale to claim somekind compensation?
I hope all this make sense
thank you
x

You are correct with what you say, if I were you I would write back to the bank and reject the offer of mis sell, tell them had you known you had this PPI, or the bank had told you that you had this cover when you asked for reduced payments on this loan when off work for 5 months, you would have claimed on this and the loan would not have had charges put on that resulted in CCJ.
This PPI cover would have paid this loan for 12 months helping you over the worst when you needed it.

Ask them to look at this again and that you want the charges that were added onto this loan due to not having known that you had this PPI reimbursed or you will pass this over to the FOS to look at.

    Thank you for your advice.
Do you think it would had mattered that i did not contact the bank at the time when i became unwell and went into hospital.
I was really poorly and did not think at the time.

    thanks again

That's certainly the "excuse" they'll use for not having paid your PPI entitlement. Follow Amersall's advice and see what transpires.

Yes, the documentary proof you mention strengthens your case considerably. Send copies of these with your letter (don't send originals, of course).

Thank you so much if you could please help with drafting a letter i would really appreciate it.
Try to be as concise as possible, say something along these lines:
    Dear Bank,
I am in receipt of your letter of (day/date) in which you offer redress of £435 in respect of my complaint about being mis-sold payment protection insurance.

I hereby decline this offer because I feel I have suffered serious financial repercussions as a result of the Bank not offering the option for me to claim on this insurance when I got into financial difficulty due to illness resulting in my hospitalisation in (date/year).

Had I known I had this PPI, or the bank had told me that I had this cover when I asked for reduced payments on this loan (date/year) when off work for 5 months, I would have claimed on this and the loan would not have incurred charges that subsequently resulted in my County Court Judgement.

This PPI cover could have paid this loan for 12 months, helping me over the worst exactly when I needed it.

I therefore ask that you reconsider my complaint, bearing in mind the hardships I have endured; largely because of the Bank's reluctance to inform me that I could claim on this insurance.

I expect an improved offer of redress from you which reflects the difficulties and embarrassments I have experienced due in no small part to the Bank's uncaring and unfair treatment.

If no such offer is forthcoming, I shall take my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman.

Include copies of all relevant documentation with your letter.
