PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

Just a quote from MSE on etiquette

"Sadly new posters seem to be treated harshly more often than they used to. Often it's because they ask questions that have already been asked, or post in the "wrong place".
There's also sometimes a "this is our board" attitude that seems to not want new posters coming in and ruining a pre-established clique.
To be utterly clear - both of these go against the philosophy of this site.
MoneySaving should be fun. Everyone using these boards is here for the same reason, to save money. The site's motto is "Please be nice to other MoneySavers". If you see someone being rude to newbies please report them to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com."

This post is the first I've posted and I don't think I'll bother posting again. I was asking for advise at a very stressful and emotional time and the last thing I needed was a know it all being petty. DID YOU ACTUALLY READ MY POST. Don't bother replying i'll be deleting post my posts as i really can't be bothered with people like you. Get a life.
Indeed. You demand to be treated nicely as a newbie. You quote your rights. And then you are abusive. You can inflict as much of your stress as you like on anyone else. But then there is not a site rule that newbies need to be nice to anyone.

As for being petty, you should realise that regulars [I am talking of many people here] will spend significant amounts of time replying to and thinking about newbies problems. It is bloody frustrating to spend perhaps 20 minutes on something only to find that the newbie has crossposted and received substantially the same answer on the other thread an hour earlier. If you think that posting something to try to avoid that is being petty, from this side of the screen, it looks close on contempt for the efforts put in on attempting to help with peoples problems.

You can appeal to Santander until you are blue in the face, they still dont have to give you a loan.

I think the lesson here, and I mean this in the nicest possible way to any forum member is to read through their reply before clicking "post".

I've often written things in a slightly short tone, read it through and decided against posting it because there was too much potential to be misunderstood and to prolong a pointless argument.

We all need to remember that forum etiquette works both ways.

Sorry I am new to the forum and to forums in general so I don't know the rules but I really don't appreciate your tone in the email. Calm down are you not supposed to be nice and helpful with new members RELAX

There was absolutely nothing wrong with DVardys post, it was to the point without shortness in the tone.
It's someone else's fault.

Jim...i hope it works out for your parents but you really come across as a corn on the cob.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
