Ebay Amateur: Cancelling the Transaction?

Hi
I recently bought an item off Ebay, which cost roughly £50. The item was brand new and the seller owns a clothing business which I bought an item from, I complained that after one use the item had gotten completely wrecked, the material had worn away and bobbled. Generally it was in such bad condition that it wasn't decent enough to wear again. I offered to return the item

The seller agreed to refund me in exchange for good feedback and I wouldnt need to return the item. I got my refund later the same day. Today I recieved this message

XXXXXXX recently opened a case to cancel a transaction for an item you recently purchased: xxxxxxxx

Reason for request to cancel the transaction: The seller says that you have returned or will be returning the item for a refund.

Click the 'Respond now' button to accept or decline this cancellation.

I've heard so many Ebay horror stories, that I dont know what to do. I've had a refund on a faulty item before from another seller and I didnt recieve this cancellation notice. I'm probably WAY WAY overreacting here, but wanted to query why I'm being sent a cancellation notice and if it will affect the refund or not.

I'm assuming if the transaction is cancelled I wont be able to leave feedback for the seller and thats why they;ve took this course of action?
TIA :A:rotfl:

The cancellation is for the seller to recoup their selling fees. Nothing to do with feedback.

It would have been better for the seller to email and let you know they would like the transaction cancelled first, but some just assume it is par for the course.

As you have had a refund and haven't had the expense of returning the item, it would seem fair to cancel the transaction.
