Rainbow hue on tv screen

help please- my tv screen has a rainbow hue which is getting worse by the minute, what could be wrong?

You haven't put something magnetic next to it have you? Eg Speakers, kids toy, portable radio etc.

Assuming its a CRT television then it sounds like a fault with the degaussing circuit. This demagnetises the shadow mask when you switch on. Alternatively it could be caused by having speakers nearby.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

many thanks for your replies- yes it is a CRT. Not that Im aware of has a magnet been put near and I dont have any speakers near by.
