can I make use of this Linksys router

I have been given a Linksys wireless-n router WRT350N which I had hoped to be a direct replacement for my Speedtouch 585.

I wanted to try it in the hope of getting a little improved speed an better wireless access which sometimes drops out in evening.

So I looked at the setup and it shows a modem between pc and new router.

So I did a bit of reading and came to the conclusion that not all routers include a modem.

So can I use at all, if so how ?

Thanks

The Linksys WRT350N router is for cable connections, but you can acquire a adsl modem to connect it to your phone line, here is an inexpensive example:

It sounds like you already have a modem? Plug the WAN port of the LinkSys (A quick look on the web says you can) into a LAN port of your Speed Touch? Fixing the IP would be advised in this instance.

You can then use the wireless capabilty of the LinkSys with the Modem features of the speedtouch. simples :)

Thanks for that , I'll take a look later.

At the moment I can't find how to fix IP address on Speedtouch but I can on Linksys. Presumably I would then disable wireless on Speedtouch.
