http://wotif.com.au/ is fantastic for late bookings for hotel rooms in Australia
http://www.fraserisland.co.uk is a fantastic island just off the coast of Hervey Bay - worth the visit just for the scenery - it's a world heritage site.#
http://ladyelliot.com.au is a small island a light plane ride away. One of the Barrier Reef Islands a must for snorkeling and even reef walking which was amazing
http://www.huntervalley.com.au is a small wine region just North of Sydney. Its fantastic for Kangaroo and Wombat watching in the early evening! There are a few good tours around the winerys which are great.
http://www.bridgeclimb.com.au would have given my right arm to do this - we did the opera house tour which was good but OH and vertigo dont mix too well. Not sure what their rules are on children but worth a look.
I could go on and on and on and on but I better stop here!! We had a fantastic time there and our holiday ended just too quick. I have photos I could email if you want just PM me!!
Have a great time:beer:0 -
Hi,
If you want my advice there is no city in the world better than PERTH.
There's a lot more to Australia than the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. And Sydney is VERY expensive.
Melbourne is dreary and dull, a bit like Manchester, Queensland is beautiful, but very tropical and Adelaide is rainy most of the time.
If you are looking to emigrate, Perth is definatley the best place and has more sunny days than anywhere else in Australia.
Flying with Malaysian Airlines is the best way to go, and usually one of the cheapest. A lot of people think Emirates is good, but I think they are quite expensive.
It depends on how much you like the heat as to when is the best time to go, I've just got off the phone to my mum, its 11pm and she is just going for a swim before she goes to bed as its still 32 degrees! (YES, she lives in Perth).
A lot of people are put off by Perth because it is so far away from the east of Australia, but there's no better place on earth.
I was born and bred in Perth and lived there for 32 years of my life and had 3 children there. I've been in Manchester for the last 5 years and seen a lot of the world and I can't wait to get back to my beautiful hometown next year. I have seen a lot of the world and I can honestly say that there is nowhere more beautiful or cleaner than Perth.
If you would like any more info on anything or anywhere in Perth pales feel free to pm me.
Good luck, and enjoy your holiday, wherever you decide to go.

:T Wow, thanks for all the info. Will keep me busy for ages!If you want to do something, then the only thing holding you back is yourself, so get on and do it!:rotfl:0

I can't believe the bagging that Perth has had in this thread. Granted it's not the buzzing city that Melbourne and Sydney and it does have a small town feel about even though it's got a couple of skyscrapers. But the temperature never drops below about 9 degrees and it's a lovely place to live. If you do decide to visit Perth (which I recommend) contrary to what you have read here, there is loads to do. Don't forget, it's the only city in Oz where you can watch the sunset on the beach!
Rotnest island is worth a visit. You need to cycle round it. It's the only place where you can see Quokkas (strange little animals).
Hire bikes and cycle down to Freemantle which is a lovely old port. I think it's about 20km and you cycle on a path all the way there down the Swan river. I think we got the bus back though!
You are a hop from the town of Margaret River which produces the finest wine in Australia (in my opinion). If you love a good Chardonnay, this is the place to find it. Do a wine tour there, loads of free tastings!
Then there's the rest of Western Australia including Esperance - gorgeous beaches, Broome - camel rides on the beach in the sunset. Ningaloo reef and whale watching- WA's answer to the Great Barrier Reef, Shark Bay - the most beautiful turquoise water you will ever see, Monkey Mia - see the dolphins.
It is my favourite state in Oz and the list is endless. Good luck with your travels.
By the way, we always fly Singapore airlines. The service is fantastic and they are usually the cheapest for us and you get to stop over in Singapore which is needed especially if you have children.0
