Where to buy large electrical goods?

My fiancee and I will be setting up home once we're married and will need to buy a washing machine, tv and possibly a dishwasher. We'd like to add gift vouchers to a wedding gift list so that any family or friends who want to contribute towards these items can (we don't want to ask for cash). In your opinion, which are the best shops/sites for buying these types of things?

Thank you!

    Do your research first.

Find out the model number of what you want first, then Google it,

You'll get a list of prices from a few companies.

    Its a minefield out there.

Ive bought quite a few things from Dixons online, they are a sister company of Currys and have always been £40/£50 cheaper even on my £250 cooker.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Don't forget that some stores will price match (if you ask).

Also if you're buying a few things from one store you may be able to haggle a discount - or a freebie.

John Lewis every time. They also price match most high street shops, customer service is second to none.

We normally go & have a look around the shops then buy the exact item online as it's cheaper. Amazon's pretty good & they have a good returns policy if need be. But there's loads out there to choose from.

I try very hard now not to shop online, I do my research obviously but if I find something from say 'Currys' I will go into Currys locally and buy it from there. Making sure the price isthe same of course.

I live in a little market town and there are so many shops closing down in the high street it makes me sad to walk down it. Ive been doing my bit over the years but sadly Currys in town closed at March end, online shopping is killing the high streets all over.

As said above find the item you want then google for suppliers don't forget to take into account delivery charges.

My fridge freezer I bought from Boots online, cheapest price I could find. I saved between £300 to £500, such was the difference in prices. Delivery was free and I earned £21 in bonus points.

Oven, hob and cooker hood I bought from kitchensdirect. Mistakenly ordered a brown oven instead of a black one. Even though the mistake was mine they collected the brown oven the following week and delivered a black one the week after. Delivery/collection on each occasion was 7am on Sunday morning!

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

Don't forget that whatever shop you choose your guests need to be able to purchase vouchers too. If you have guests who aren't online, live in a remote place or are elderly etc they might not be willing or able to buy vouchers for some places (though some people will still be willing to give you cash)!

We asked for Argos vouchers, not that I like Argos (really don't like them at all) but they had the TV we wanted at a really good price and were very convenient for everybody. I really enjoyed buying that TV & watching it knowing all our friends and family helped us buy it. :)
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

I use a local company in twickenham for my appliances for the last couple of years never had a problem... they match online prices and offer great service so if your in surrey, twickenham is not to far you could send family into the store with the model number of your chosen appliance (washing machine, dishwasher etc) so they can purchase in-store or online @ YQ BATHROOMS KITCHENS & TILES get details from website
