Epson printer won't print - help please

I have an Epson Stylus SX200, it has been working fine up until a couple of
days ago, but now everytime I try and print , it says "printer not found" I am tearing my hair out :mad: I have uninstalled the printer using C cleaner and tried to re install it, tried another printer cable, tried printing from another laptop but just get same message. Yes the printer is on and will copy something if I use the printer button on the printer. The cables are all pushed in properly too. (it's not wireless) Do you think I should give in and buy a new printer or is there something else I could try. Really appreciate any help, love this site

Unplug the USB cable. Delete the printer using control panel-->device manager. Plug it back in again let it find it. You don't say which version of Windows you have

Thank you, I have windows 7 , I will find the device manager and try that.

I couldn't find 'device manager' so went into 'control panel' , 'devices and printers' and deleted the printer from there. I have plugged the usb back in but nothing is happening

Sorry found device manager now, printer is not showing in there.

Have you got the epson disk ? if not look on the epson site for the drivers disk...I will look for that now so don't worry for now

Yes I have the Epson disc, should i try installing the printer again? last time i tried , it got the bit where it says plug in usb, tells me to wait 2 mins, then says can't find printer.

Reinstall it again using the latest drivers from the Epson support site. Make sure it's showing in 'Devices and Printers', set as the default printer, and set to 'online'.
If the copy function prints then it's not a physical problem with the printer. There should also be a routine to run a test print with the printer disconnected-check the manual.
Tried a different USB port?

Yes you could try another usb port/cable too

I have tried different usb ports and my iphone works in them all so I know they are all ok. I have also tried another cable. Sorry but not quite sure how to re install it using the drivers, should I run the disk and follow
instructions and then install drivers from Epson site?

If you click start then run, type services.msc then wait for the services box, listed alphabetically is the print spooler running and set to automatic start?

You will need to do this after re-installing the printer, probably best from the disc as it usually includes other software not available for download from Epson, eg abby fine reader for the scanning
