Epson printer won't print - help please

If you click start then run, type services.msc then wait for the services box, listed alphabetically is the print spooler running and set to automatic start?
Sorry I know my way a little bit around my laptop but a bit lost now
when I click start, I don't have the option to click 'run' (I used to on a old vista laptop) in accessories, there is an option for 'comand prompt' is that the same thing? and then are you saying I should find and change 'print spooler' to automatic start?0 -
So am I right in saying that
1. I should re install the printer using the disk.
2. I should install latest drivers from Epson
3. Try and set the print spooler to automatic start
Is that the right order? sorry to sound a bit thick

You need to install everything you need from the disc, then no need for anything from Epson, then check the print spooler
The driver is the important one and the disc may offer some type of guided or automatic install, if so, choose that option
If you need to reset the print spooler, restart the PC to check it does start automatically0 -

Ok I will do that now, but one last question incase you go
when I install the disk and it gets to the bit where it says 'plug in usb, wait 2 mins to find printer' when it doesn't find it, do I carry on with the installation without that bit if that makes sense? 0 -
Have the USB cable connected to the PC and the printer but check the printer is off when you start the installation
When the installer says connect the USB lead, switch the printer on, you should hear bing bong or whatever you want to call it from the PC and bottom right should show new hardware found, if so, wait a minute then top left should say printer found etc.0 -
I have just had the same nightmare with my desktop computer and hp printer
I did everything allready suggested but it still would not work
searched the internet for ideas and the first one worked ...
shutdown the computer , unlpug the mains completely (not just switch off)
plug the mains back in ........................... and
It worked first time
took me 4 days of deleting , uninstalling , re installing , updating drivers etc. to no avail
such a simple fix for mine ! got to be worth a try0 -
I'm glad I'm not the only one that has had this problem
I searched the
internet too but didn't find any answers. Thanks will try unplugging everything now and starting again

Well I've done all of that, but didn't hear a bing or a bong ! nothing showing new hardware, nothing saying printer found either. Message says
" the product can not be recognized"
"Abort - cancel installation of the printer drive and start the next item"
I put 'run' onto the start menu and the ' printer spooler' is set to automatic
Any suggestions please?
