Ive got a carpet fitter that is going to fit my carpet. But I wanted to source my own underlay and griper rods.
What is the best type of underlay? Do you just fit the gripper roads along the skirting board or do they need to be a certain distance away.

The carpet fitter will fit the gripper in the correct place, cant understand why you would need to know to be honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

If he is a professional carpet fitter honestly, he wont appreciate it.
My OH was a decorator and youve no idea how much 'help' people tried to give him, he ended up going over what they had done because they had made such a crap(well, not professional) job of it.
It will all be in his price anyway so, nice as it is, you would still be paying for it in the long run. If you dont do it 'professionaly' he will have to spend time taking it up again, possibly breaking some so costing you even more in the long run.
Sorry, didnt mean to be blunt if it came over that way.
For a good finish and to make your carpet last longer, buy the best quality underlay you can buy.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

A professional fitter will put the underlay down in no more than a few minutes. It's simply unrolled and cut to length.No free lunch, and no free laptop
