Well,at the risk of sparking an avalanche of abuse I prefer Greece.
Stunning scenery, friendly and intelligent people and a well-developed tourist industry that isn't based on continual hassling of visitors.
Turkey is like Greece to look at but its problem is it's full of Turks who bear the same arrogant rudness and sexist attitudes of their Arabic cousins the Egyptians.
And before you aim the howitzers in my direction I'm a regular business visitor to all three countries.

Turkey. Definitely Turkey for me. I would recommend Altinkum.

Obviously we all have our personal favourites, I can definitely recommend Crete or Corfu - particularly paleokastritsa. Not been to turkey or egypt (yet!!)

Have been to all 3 and would just say "you get what you pay for";)

Sharm has to come out top for quality of hotels, value for money, sun, Rea Sea and snorkelling.

Turkey and Greece - stunning scenery, food. Going back to Turkey in May and can't wait to go out on an all day boat (gulet) trip. Really cheap (or it was about 4 years ago - £10 each for all day and included lunch) and you see some stunning scenery.

As for hassling - I stay friendly but carry on walking and tell the children not to pick anything up. I find the supermarkets are best for souvenirs, t-shirts etc. In all 3 countries they expect you to haggle - rule of thumb is to start at half of what they say the price is. I think what really gets on their nerves is if you have no intention of buying anything and walk away after 10 mins of haggling.
  • Been to all 3 too.
Egypt - no thanks, never again! cruising down the Nile was wonderful & so glad I saw the sights BUT the hassle, the touching up & the fact that even on a 5* cruise I & nearly all the boat came down with really bad stomach problems & I & my companions were ill for 6 months afterwards - NEVER AGAIN!

Greece - Great - love Rhodes best, Corfu next & then Crete & Heraklion. Got quite a bit more expensive now though. Some nice things to see - best of all Rhodes Town. The best thing also about Rhodes is you can catch a trip to Fethiye.

Turkey - now you're talking! Avoid the bloody awful (IMHO) Blackpool like Marmaris & go somewhere like Calis, Fethiye & you'll adore it. No hassle, laid back, wonderful people who can't do enough to help you. Never had a bad meal, super restaurants for every budget.
We loved it so much we intend moving there soon for good. Never felt so strongly about any other place or country. Although we've been all over Turkey Calis & Fethiye capture your heart. Paradise on earth. You can even catch a day trip to Rhodes, although you probably won't bother

It's no contest whatsoever for us. Been all over the world & this is the only place we miss every day when we're not there.

Nobjocki - you MUST have gone to Marmaris or one of the other so called 'top' resorts or have met some unusual Turks as spending around 10 weeks a year in the Fethiye area we've NEVER come across arrogant rudeness or sexist attitudes. Maybe it's you who provokes this attitude? All areas of Turkey DON'T hassle visitors as Littlereddevil & Tiff will I'm sure agree - as obviously Fethiye/Calis lovers too.

Maybe we should keep this Paradise to ourselves though? - we don't want everyone finding our little paradise!

You're just like me, I feel like Calis is home, except I dont get to go out there that often.

Sorry to hear you had this bad experience but you can't compare what happened to you on a Nile cruise to a holiday in Sharm el Sheik/Red Sea area. What happened to you wasn't the country's fault. It's been very well documented how bad Nile cruises are for the standard of hygiene/cleanliness - 5* or not.;) As much as I love Egypt I wouldn't touch a Nile cruise.

Turkey - never, never, ever again - the worst place I've ever been to!

Egypt - Great place, loved it (Luxor) but Sharm would be better for shopping

Not been to Greece, so can't comment

Just remember , depending when your going, these places are melting hot, not just sunny

To be honest, if you are a first time traveller then those three countries should NOT be the ones to try. Greece isn't too bad, but Turkey and Egypt are a culture shock if you haven't been abroad. The hassle and haggling can be draining.

Try Spain first. Its closer, you don't get the hassle and the prices are generally cheaper than Greece and Turkey now ( eating/ drinking ).
Pick a resort on Majorca that suits your style. From the lively Magalluf to the quiet Puerto Soller. There is somewhere to suit everyone on that island.

Wherever you decide, before you book check out for reviews of the hotel you pick on https://www.holidays-uncovered.co.uk to check how previous travellers rated it.
