Dell inspiron plugged in - not charging Help - please

I get the message charger not recognised
Then it tells me adaptor plugged in but not charging.
Does this mean I am ok using it as it will be powered from the mains? Or when it gets to 0% will it just die on me?
Seems to be a common fault with Dell :mad: - according to the results from a google search.
