    Hey Piggin,

Havent seen you on all week, everything ok?

    I'm ill unfortunately!

I managed to struggle through to the end of last week at work, then collapsed! DS's Dad picked him up at 8pm on Friday (late because I knew I was going to be late home). Almost as soon as he had gone I went to bed.

I spent the weekend in a state of virtual collapse and felt sort of well enough on Monday to go to work which enabled me to do the urgent stuff at least. Then I went downhill again just before going home. I had a headache from the middle of last week right through to Sunday evening. The fact that it went away meant I was able to get some work done on Monday. It came back with a vengeance in the form of a migraine at about 3:30pm on Monday afternoon. On top of that, and really the root cause of my illness, as I discovered when went to the doctor's on Tuesday, is a chest infection (started as a cold last week) and aggravated asthma. So I am now on a course on antibiotics and a short course of steroids. The latter is unfortunately sending me away with the fairies! This means I have not been on t'internet as much as I would like - I am just managing to keep on top of my emails (work and personal - just checking, delegating and only responding to the urgent ones) and my daily checks on my bank account.

Sorry I am quiet at the moment - hopefully normal service will be resumed when I am feeling better.

    Bye for now!

Thanks! I've been under the weather for quite a while so it had to happen sooner or later. It has only been sheer will power that kept me going as long as I did. I am enjoying a much needed rest!

I have just almost finished updating my sig - the only thing I can't update at the moment is my Make a Payment a Day total (need my spreadsheet on my work PC to get a really accurate figure).

Not looking too bad really and there are plenty of things to celebrate:

The Littlewoods balance is now £107.84 so by the time I update my sig again that will be under £100.

The balance on the Halifax card (the one that OH is responsible for paying) is now £9061.10 so by the beginning of next month that will have dropped to below £9K. Yippee!

The balance on the Intelligent Finance card is now £1626.12 so that will very shortly be under £1600

The balance on the Tesco card is now £501.76 so very soon that will be under £500. This is the card that I am aiming to pay off by Christmas in the Pay a Debt by Xmas 08 challenge. I don't think I will manage it but I will give it a very good go!

The total credit card debt has gone down from £23,520.98 to £23,070.98 so by the beginning of next month that will be under £23K - woohoo! That will be the first time that has happened in well over a year - double woohoo!

And once I do that it will only be £1000 away from being at its lowest level since my lightbulb moment. I got it down to £21,995.92 by 1st August 2007 and that was before I transferred the Windows finance (at silly APR) to my Halifax card. (Of course it would have been a lot lower by now if I had taken the credit card off OH earlier, but let's not go there shall we?!)

The total non-mortgage debt has gone from £35,097.83 to £34,480.15 - I knew it would be under £35K but I am very pleasantly surprise at how much under it is! Woohoo!

    Hi All

I got back to work yesterday. I feel sort of O.K. but I am very very tired!

It looks like I made a bit of boo-boo with my figures for the 1st October – I knew I should have waited until I was back at work! The ‘Sum’ function for the credit card total missed out one of the balances so the total is not as good as I thought it was! The total credit cards figure is actually £23,386.68. At £34,795.85 the total non-mortgage debt is still well under £35K, so it is not all bad!

The laptop at home has been really playing up which is why I have not been on here as much just lately. I decided to pick my youngest brother’s brains last night and he agreed with my opinion that the problem is almost certainly the battery. Apparently laptop batteries should be replaced roughly every 2 years, which I didn’t know. While I was on the phone to him he googled a replacement for me, which I then did the same and found myself, when the laptop decided to actually play ball and switch on and stay on long enough for me to do something. So I have bitten the bullet and used my Egg card to buy a replacement battery – at nearly £60 including VAT and P&P it wasn’t cheap but it is a whole lot cheaper than having to buy a new laptop! The ever-increasing worry has been, of course, that the time would come fairly soon that it just wouldn’t switch on at all, and then we really would be stuffed!

The weekend was an expensive one for another reason. On Friday night we discovered that the cat had got a large abscess on his leg, which meant a trip to the vet’s on Saturday morning. That was another nearly £60 on the credit card. It can’t be helped I suppose!

Anyway, I really must attempt to do some work. I think tonight’s to-do list will be as follows:

    · Take DS’s stuff to him at his Dad’s
    · Have a long soak in the bath
    · Have an early night

    Bye all!

    Hi dawnybabes

I tried to reply last night but the flippin laptop cut out again - the sooner we get a new battery in the thing the better!

OH seems to be enjoying the job - he comes home telling me about all the characters that are there. He is one of these (I think) rare people who actually likes old people and is interested in them and they like him!

It's a pity that it doesn't pay more though. He is just about able to pay the Halifax bill now (I hope!) but as for paying his way - I think we are as far away from that as ever. I think he is going to get a very nasty shock sometime soon!
