Painter decorater/floor cleaner etc review? Is there a website to check how legit?

Hi there -

Just wondering if any of you klnow of a good website where I can check out a company or handyman etc before hiring them to see if they are any good or a con artist! I've heard terrible things and am sceptical! Googling doesn't seem to help as some companies haven't got websites etc just entries on yell.

Thankyou!

a ltd company can be checked out on the official comapanies house website.

any decent ltd comapny should have a website.

not much you can do about a one man band such as a handyman. apart from recommendations from family and friends.
    Get some gorm.

, the check a tradesman websites are just as unreliable as plucking a name from the yellow pages or local paper ,as ormus has stated , personal reccomendation from nieghbours , friends work colleagues will stand you in good steed , also once you have a reliable tradesman they will normally know other reliable trades , i have a list of sparks, chippy's plumbers plasterers, landscapers ,builders etc that i give to my customers , they are either people i know , or have met and seen their work and are happy to pass on their name . customers would much rather have a reccomendation from me rather than pluck a random name from the phone book
