Impact of all the economic discussions - Board user figures

When I'm sitting back an watch people discuss houseprices, bringing in obscure research from all over the internet, pouring over the latest 0.1% figures, arguing about the future of the housing market, I often wonder if it is worth the participants time and effort.
Here are the top7 and bottom 7 boards on MSE, graded on viewers:
Bottom 7 Boards

Before anyone puts the low viewing figures down to the housing market slump (and hence slump of interest in houses), here are the figures for the main house board:
House Buying, Renting & Selling(166 Viewing)
I'm assuming that the low figures represent the fact that both the economy and house prices are stagnant and there is nothing left to talk about. What do other people think the reason is that there are only 10 to 20 people on this board?
Do people think that it may perhaps be time for Martin to close this board down due to lack of interest/relevence?

The main reason that the board has lower viewers is that it is for logged in members only. It previously received about 10x the viewers when passing traffic was included. A more realistic comparison would be against the Moneysaving Arms. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Suggest that house prices is removed from the title and that this becomes an economy board only in an attempt to raise the level of debate.0 -
i don't know much about such things but won't quite a few of the 'viewers' on the 'open' forums that don't require a log in just be, er, what's the expression, 'bots'?
even so, 'House Buying, Renting & Selling' definitely gets a lot more traffic than this subforum - a new thread on there rarely stays on the first page for more than a few hours, a day or so at most.FACT.0 -

So what you are really saying is that you want this board shut down because you dont want to admit that your masterplan may not work.
Id prefer the board to be left open boss.0 -
I think house prices should be a sub forum on the economy forum. There is more to the economy than just house prices.

Well at the end of the day it is a debate, not advice board, therefore as such anything goes.
People are free to join or not join in with any house price/economy topic they so wish.
Yes there is the unfortunate side effect of a couple of nutters and their multiple personality disorders but as myself and others have learnt best thing is to put them on ignore.
Lets face it the reason why most of us are on here is because we have differing opinions on matters and like to 'express' our views.0 -
We learned today that competitions are 55 times more popular than economics and house prices added together.
I'm not that surprised TBH.0 -

One fairly major problem with the board is the regular hijacking of potentially interesting debates resulting in slanging matches between sockies. It is hard to tell exactly how many people really are using the board.
The same thing happens over on DT though. Maybe we are all just running out of steam."A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."
I still am Puddleglum - phew!0 -

Sad thing is this is exactly what they want so do you let them get their own way?
Let's be honest we've all been guilty of being suckered in by the sockies and been dragged down to their level. But most of them are so easy to spot now they just go straight onto my ignore list and then you are not tempted to bite.0 -

Well, 55 times more popular than sockie arguments and name calling, at any rate. The investment board where the economy is often discussed and the main housing board are doing ok:
Savings & Investments(224 Viewing)
House Buying, Renting & Selling(166 Viewing)
I think thrugelmir's idea was a good one, house price discussions are so noughties. I'm not sure what jimmy was on about as I was asking for other people's opinions on this board, not the board where my MFW challenge is recorded (the MFW board, unsurprisingly), but then jimmy is one of the problems killing this board.
