Buying train tickets online when there is nowhere to pick them up?
I have £10 in my redspottedhanky account, and want to use it to buy a ticket for tonight (and we havent decided where we are going yet)
The problem is my local train station ticket office shuts at 1pm so how do I get my ticket?
(I dont have another station near that I can use)
Has anyone ever done the mobile ticketing?
I am thinking thats my only option, but I have never seen anyone do this before. Help!

Where abouts are you? I get trains all over the uk as part of my work and tend to find that the further north you get the more forgiving the staff are. For example i regularly board trains in scotland with a print out of the confirmation email until i get to a station with facilities to obtain the ticket whereas i wouldn't go within 10 miles of a station in London without a ticket0

Or just pay cash on the train this time and use your £10 on your next journey. Endless possibilities :-p0

I think we have just got a ticket machine!. How does that actually work? (I have never used one)
If I am paying with my points online, do I still use my debit card to collect my ticket from the machine? thanks£100 - £10,0000 -
I never understood the point of buying online if you still have to go to the ticket office - I prefer the human service and the "Thanks" you get from the bloke who's still employed due to my custom.
The government are trying to cut down on all railway staff so you have to value them while they're still there - 10 years from now you won't see any staff on the railways and then you'll all complain when there is a security issue!0 -
Why not take the time to read the information that Redspottedhanky supply?I think we have just got a ticket machine!. How does that actually work? (I have never used one)

On their website you will find...
Lots of other good stuff there too.How do I collect my ticket from the train station, if I have paid for my tickets with e-vouchers? If you have paid for your tickets entirely using e-vouchers you can collect your tickets from the self service ticket machine at the train station using any debit/credit card together with your order confirmation number for your tickets.0 -
I did read that Wealdroam but the station didnt have a ticket machine that last time I was there about a month ago. So it didnt really help me.
I have since found that it does have a machine but I have tried to buy my tickets online, and because the ticket machine is new it doesn't come up on there list, so I cant collect it there anyway.
The reason I wanted to buy online is I have a free £10 in my account that will run out before I get to use it at this rate!
Thanks anyway

You can get tickets from Red Spotted Hanky through the post at no extra cost - just as long as it's a week or more ahead of the journey0

I am only answering the question you posed...
You asked a question, I answered. If I am paying with my points online, do I still use my debit card to collect my ticket from the machine?
If you already knew the answer, why did you ask?0
