http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-17642736Chancellor George Osborne says he would be "very happy" for the government to consider publishing the personal tax returns of senior cabinet ministers.
Strange one this.
First we find out that Red Ken is indulging something that he calls others "b*stards" for doing, then we have the Tory party leading the calls for publishing ministers tax affairs.
Labour seem to be very quiet on the issue. Wonder why.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2093272/21K-day-David-Miliband-exploits-tax-loophole-Government-pledged-close.htmlDavid Miliband is channelling his earnings of up to £21,000 a day through a controversial tax loophole his own Government vowed to close.
I think this is just the beginning. Expect a lot more politicians to be caught out in the next few weeks.Nothing is foolproof, as fools are so ingenious!0 -

Good. Should hopefully be far more damaging to labour than the tories.0 -

At the same time operating as an unincorporated sole trader doesn't result in his full income becoming immediately taxable as other poster suggested as a sole trader can offset relevant expenses against their taxable income.
Yes sorry the point I was getting at is that the profit (rather than income, my bad) becomes taxable in that year. (or at least I think it does, this is why I pay an accountant!)
You can't, for example, do as you may with a ltd co... eg earn 300k, pay 20% on it and then pay yourself 30k divs tax free free for 10 years.
Which might be a good plan for a politician about to retire...0 -
