Paddick gets a pension as an ex-copper.
Jones is a member of the London Assembly.
Didn't retire a bobby on the beat, I take it'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Interesting that the Fat Cat Tory paid almost 45% tax whilst the socialist paid a little more than 35%.
Don't fret for him it will be less next year, not so the granny retiring on a £10k pension'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. the only good thing for Ken is that most of the chav idiots and immigrants don't read or understand anything. All they know is labour means more handouts for them so they'll vote for it.
i think ken had a point about certain people not being allowed to vote, but it should be those on benefits and nopt contributing tax (and i don't count tax on benefits). they have a vested interest. Also, i feel public sector workers/civil service should not be allowed to vote either. vested interests. only private sector wealth creators should be allowed a vote.0 -
Great article. Wish I had seen it before. In 2010/11, setting aside pension contributions, Ken Livingstone received 92% of his income – £63,333 – through dividends and just 8% or £5,700 through a normal salary where tax was deducted on a pay as you earn (PAYE) basis.
In 2010/11 the threshold to start paying NICs was £5,720 per year and as if by magic, Ken Livingstone’s PAYE income for the year was £20 below the level where any NICs would have to be paid.
Fancy that.
So Ken's avoiding paying NIC's on his income.
And (I admit I'm surprised!), Boris is actually paying his:Johnson’s tax status as self-employed meant he took his remuneration via a normal PAYE salary, fully liable for NICs.Nothing is foolproof, as fools are so ingenious!0 -

You can't tell how much tax ken paid because he hasn't disclosed the details of his company's turnover, how much of the profit was retained and what he paid his wife relative to the amount of work she really did.
I expect his effective rate of tax is lower than 35%. Probably deliberately capped his income to avoid hitting the 60% marginal band above £100k.0 -
Not to mention the fact that he didn't publish details on his company, only what he received from his company by way of salary & dividends.
I hope this comes back to scupper his campaign.
Exactly - what livingstone left out if the important bit. Can't believe he is trying to slime his way out of this one. Hmm.. maybe I can.
I actually have pretty much the same tax arrangements as Ken, so I'm one of the rich !!!!!!!s he hates so much. (Though I dont earn quite as much as him)
About the only difference is that I don't try and write off my company profits by illegally donating it to my own political parties.0 -

You mean like he did his support for the IRA and radical Islamists?
Why is anyone surprised? How much does it take?0 -
Ken is 65 soon to be 66. He is of pensionable age hence there are no national insurance payments.
The salary for the Mayor of London is £143,911, Clearly the mayoral role is a part time occupation for Boris.
