Which Digital SLR?

I'm treating myself to a new D-SLR, and as I would consider myself to be an enthusiast, I would be grateful for some further advice.
I've narrowed it down to 4 (in the order I'm considering):
Olympus E-500
Canon EOS 350D
Nikon D50
Panasonic Lumix FZ50
Any thoughts or advice from someone who is an expert in these matters? Or already owns one of the above....? Thanks in advance, much appreciated.

Hi,
I dont have any on your list but would replace the canon 350 for the 400d which I own, and is brilliant. The cost difference is minimal. Also canon have an outlet on EBAY, these are reconditioned but come with a 12mth gaurentee.
Hope this helps0 -
Haven't got one... yet! But was going to go for the Canon which was the top Which? Best Buy in a recent digital SLR report.0

I have the canon EOS 350D and love mine.
I had the canon EOS SLR before this and it was just the logical replacement for me as all my lenses fitted straight on.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

i have the 350d, absolutely love it. really it's between it and the nikon, i think you get more for your money with canon but nikon's lenses are slightly cheaper.0

As a part time pro photographer I use Olympus DSLR's, I have the E1 (still going strong after 3 years heavy use), did have the E300 but sold it after a year and bought the E400. I can highly recommend the Olympus cameras, and my recommendation persuaded my brother to buy an E500 after playing with my cameras.
I would suggest you go to dpreview.com and spend some time looking at user opinions on the Olympus SLR forum (and possibly the Canon forum) as well as sample photos, they're a pretty friendly & helpful bunch.
Just to let you know that Olympus are announcing two (at least) new slr's on 5th March so in true money saving style there might be some bargains to be had on the E500 in the coming weeks as they try to offload stock for the new models.

I'd also add the Sony Alpha 100 dSLR to your list for consideration. Can be had very cheaply, is compatible with Konica-Minolta lens mounts (therefore a very large range of affordable lenses available), 10mp APS sensor (same one as Nikon D200), Carl Zeiss lenses by the truckload, anti-shake stabalising sensor in-camera (so all ur lenses are antishake at the expense of 1 stop). It's cheap as chips now and receives very good reviews pretty much everywhere. https://www.dpreview.com has a good indepth review. As Sony now own Konica-Minolta, support for this camera and additional CZ lenses are a certainty - as are new dSLR cameras.

go for Nikon... I think that's all the original poster's options now covered! If you are a serious amateur photographer though, and have moved from non-digital, then Nikon including lenses might be the way to go. D40 is probably not a good idea if you want to use all lenses, and D50 is good if you can still get hold of one. The latest, and best DSLR is in my opinion the D80, especially with the 18-70 lens.0

Hi shona,
here is the link

I managed to get mine from Jessops for £500 for the silver one with standard and tamaron zoom lens. They price matched it with digital rev, and that was the manager. At the momment mymemory have some cracking deals on 4gb 133x compact flash cards.
Hope this helps0 -
I'll put another vote in for the 400d even if it's not in your list0
