Qualifying for free banking from First Direct & getting the 8% regular saver account

Am I right in saying in order to get free banking from First Direct they normally charge £10 a month all I have to do is Open a "First Account" and pay in £1 Open a "Savings Account" and pay in £1 Set up a standing order from Lloyds to the First Account for £300 on pay day. That's what I did, they will call me back on the 1st May (or so they say) to confirm a payment to go by SO on the 6th for £575 and then drop it back down to £300 each month for the following 10 months.

So really when I say top up, I mean top up with next months payment across to the regular saver account
