            Hi,
I want to take my sister to Miami for 10 days this summer as a 21st birthday present.
I have to admit I've been totally seduced by the fantastic scenery on CSI Miami!!
I've had a look on traveladvisor, but I'm finding it hard to narrow my search down to an area, Collins Avenue looks nice, and I was hoping for some reccomendations of area, hotel, what to do, where to eat etc...
Thanks very much,
Sarah

It will be very very hot and very very sticky in summer in Miami, I like it best in winter, was there in January and it was great.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

İf the Budget will stretch try South Beach (called SoBe locally),upmarket but also laid back and chilled, most of the hotels are Art Deco style and you are in the centre of the nightlife(Ask the hotel consiege(sp) and you names will be put on the VİP lists for the best clubs).0

Coconut Grove is fairly lively too, Miami beach caters mainly for families but bearing in mind you age group i'd avoid Sunny İsles, a good half hour by transport from the centre and it is in a retirement area, bars etc close early. Good Luck0

I would echo what another poster said about temperature - I had to spend a couple of days there some years ago because of a missed connection on airlines and I still remember walking out of the airconditioned airport into what felt like a sauna. Check how many rainy days they have and when hurricane season starts too . On the upside, you might get a decent price on flights etc. If you are going to stay in Miami, I think South Beach is the place to be - but if you are going to do flydrive you could also head down to the Keys for a few days. (Might be cooler?). Fort Lauderdale is quite close too. 0 . I would also echo what's been said about the temperature, too. We went a few years ago in March and it was the hottest most humid place I have ever been (and I have been to some very hot places). We stayed in Sunny Isles on Collins Ave, which had great transport into the city but I wouldn't recommend staying there as it is more a family/retirement area ( we got a cheap deal thru work). Definitely SoBe is the place to go - we had a couple of nights out down there and it was fab. Some great restaurants down on the beach front too.
Shopping was great and we got loads of bargains and the exchange rate is even better now.
We did a couple of trips to the Keys and also to the Everglades - airboat was great.
It is a lovely city, but very hot!
 Have fun.0

Head for the Art Deco of South Beach and a hotel called "Park Central" We stayed there last November and it was fine with lovely friendly staff. It's on Ocean Drive right on the beach. Take a look at a website called trip advisor my wife has posted a good review of the hotel. Also check out Frommers.com you can ask locals any questions you want.

You can go snorkelling in John Pennekamp (sp?) national park. There is a coral reef there and it is a great break from the city. Miami, especially South Beach, is a great place to sit and people watch!we have love enough to light the streets.0

:hello: Just stumbled upon your post, Miami such a fantastic place. we went there twice last year.:j
1st time we went beginning of May a fab time of year, not humid but very warm the locals all say May is the best time of year to go and its also classed as low season stayed at the ocean 5 and booked through BA got a very good rate. Its in a great location on South Beach, hired a car and done the trip all around florida, keys, naples, everglades, clearwater and back to SoBe
2nd time we went in September, as we enjoyed it so much the 1st time, thought we would chance the hurricane season, and to be fair the weather was fab but soooooo humid would have to think twice about going again at that time. stayed at The Atlantica in SoBe for the 1st week and moved to beautiful Coconut Grove Sonnesta Hotel for the 2nd. Both hotels in great positions. All in all we had a great time and would recommend any one at any age to go, it has every thing you want, Shopping, Great beaches, fab bars and restaurants.
Just one other thing im sure i heard that CSI Miami isnt actually filmed in Miami, think the areial shots are but the street scene's arntMy mind tends to wander............If found please return;)
 I can spell...................I just cant type 0 0
