Barclays fraud

Last year Barclays failed to amend our business bank account mandate and didn't remove someone off the account, then allowd the same person to continually withdrawing money...
When I have raised the complaint despite saying over phone that they admitted liability they know say they didn't and that the mandate requests were never sent, despite me meeting the account manager locally and hand delivered...
I have written to obtain data access to call recordings etc, but being told that I can't have them as business account...any advice please?.. I've then been conned by solicitor charging £850 just to review case to then say they need the information from bank wh won't release it!!!

Could you ask the police to investigate the theft?
I think they may be correct on the Data Protection Act stuff, but am not absolutely sure.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
So there was no requirement for multiple signatures/authorisations to be required for each transaction in the mandate.......oh dear.0

Hi both, yes police are involved but won't do anymore without information from bank and they won't release anything?...
The mandate was simple to remove one person and replace with another, there was only ever one signature on the account and even worse their local business manager was aware of this all the way and no denies it0 -
Contact the Law society. I am sure there are procedures that could establish whether the cost was likely to be fair.
Can you go to the ombudsman regarding the bank if you have exhausted all avenues with the bank?
Have the police themselves requested information from the bank? I don't see how the bank won't release for a police investigation.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Police have said they have given Barclays crime number but no oneis getting back to them as Barclays doesn't see it as crime, although police do, so police are loathed to start battling Barclays....and cps won't do anything until sorted with Barclays.
Ombudsman same stance...0 -
Sue them for the loss and all legal expense plus compensation for your time in dealing with this.0

Thanks I want to but the solicitor wants to charge same again to review the file again and that's before anything is started!!..
Know if the professional negligence sols on no win no fee would be any good?0 -
How much money has been taken without authorisation?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Hi without being specific it is sizeable amount into 5 digits0

Do you have any legal assistance as part of your business insurance?
Also, if you are absolutely certain about the telephone conversation/other conversations that you had regarding the bank, then a recording will obviously help, but you can still write a summary of the conversation including staff members' names etc. So don't think the situation is a no-goer because you haven't got a recording.
Try contacting Business Link for some more advice??:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
