how do the switching companies make money? Am I paying for them?

Of course.
In higher gas and electricity prices.
The money has to come from somewhere.
Same with all the solar FITs.

Do you mean if you leave your current supplier i.e early termination fee? You don't pay a fee to move to a supplier, they would be very enticing that way.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0

Switching companies (or cashback companies) reduce the sales overheads to the supplier (commission, sales staff overheads etc). They share some of that commission with you.No free lunch, and no free laptop
