Hi there,
I've been scouring the 'net and haven't been able to find a conclusive answer to this.
My girlfriend bought a car many moons ago... in 2000. VardyCare was lumped into the mixture without her permission. Other things were railroaded in throughout the discussion, such as 2 years of extended warranty, GAP insurance, extended AA cover... everything, basically, which took the price to something ridiculous.
Can anyone offer any advice as to whether or not any of the above can be reclaimed under these circumstances? I understand VardyCare would need to be chased through the dealer, who I believe is now owned by Pendragon who are still around. I've saw a few people asking about this claiming process, but no real conclusive answers.
As for the rest... is there any avenue to reclaim these back?
Thanks.

I doubt it, what is wrong with extended warranty and AA cover? Thats not something you are going to get refunded.0

Vardy care may be reclaimable if she has reasons for being mis sold

Put the complaint into the dealer.
Roonaldo is correct regarding the others though.0 -
Other threads I've read indicate that because it predates the FSA regulation of car dealers, and because they weren't a member of GISC, there's no real way to force the issue with them. Other people have had written responses from the new owner to this effect under these circumstances.Vardy care may be reclaimable if she has reasons for being mis sold

As for the "others"... she wasn't aware of them, and nothing was explained, boxes were simply ticked. If there's nothing to do... just say so.0 -
If you knew what "Vardy care " would come back with, then why ask the question? you already know the answer.
You may be able to go after the Insurer with this, if they come back and say no the FOS may help with this, bear in mind if you do go this route there is no guarantee the Insurer will cough up and this will take a long time to resolve, the FOS are testing the waters regarding the Insurer route, so be prepared to wait.
AA cover will not be deemed to be mis sold as it would have covered anything that the AA covered this for, unless there was already cover in place elsewhere for this then it could have been deemed mis sold, but as you state above, the year it was taken out will hinder this, the same with the extended Warranty.0 -
No, I don't. I have not found a thread with a conclusive answer to the question "Can I reclaim PPI" from this particular company and under these circumstances, only those who have had varying, sometimes contradictory answers, no real concrete path, and others whose threads didn't include the outcome. If you knew what "Vardy care " would come back with, then why ask the question? you already know the answer.
Okay. I'll try that. Is there a template letter to use when addressing the insurer directly? You may be able to go after the Insurer with this, if they come back and say no the FOS may help with this, bear in mind if you do go this route there is no guarantee the Insurer will cough up and this will take a long time to resolve, the FOS are testing the waters regarding the Insurer route, so be prepared to wait.0 -
but you arent going to get extended warranty and AA cover back, or the GAP. just because she didnt use it doesnt mean it was mis-sold. none of this stuff is PPI.
I would imagine any complaint would be time barred anyway with them quoting the limitation act 1980, your talking of a sale that happened twelve years ago!0 -
It is the same for any mis sell, if they come back and say no then ring FOS and see what they can help you with.Okay. I'll try that. Is there a template letter to use when addressing the insurer directly?0 -
I've just noticed from a different post that Reg Vardy are not under FOS jurisdiction for sales prior to 14 Jan 2005. Any complaint would just be dismissed and refer you the Finance and Leasing Association (FLA)0
