It may be worthwhile contacting your local Housing Advice service (Town Hall - if the services have not been cut, because of the costs). It would be definitely worth contacting Shelter and asking their advice. Good luck!!

Landlord can evict you for no reason at all. Thatcher brought that great idea in...

It is a great idea. The landlord owns the property and should be able to take it back. If a tenant wants security they should save and buy. In this particular situation I think it's unlikely the LL would evict if the OP became pregnant.

I think it would be far more sensible to move to a properly self contained property if you want to start an imminent family.

If space is such an issue than it's not fair on anybody least of you, your partner, your child or the LL.

if you can't afford to move, then it's best to hold off on the family idea until you're better prepared to support it.

    .

Not telling people how to live thier lives, but I do tend to agree , so it probably wouldn't be any loss if he gave you notice.
Could three of you fit into a studio flat bearing in mind you will be needing to fit in a cot , pushchair, and all the other paraphenalia associated with a baby.

It always amazes me how your tidy ordered house and life seems to fall into mess, disorder and chaos when a baby comes along.

Babies take up a surprising amount of room. The very last thing you want is to move with a baby, I moved house with a 1 month old and it was hell.

Make sure you are TOTALLY and completely settled, otherwise you would regret it 1-2 years down the line when you are uprooting your family and going through pointless stress. Trust me!!

Hi all thanks so much for the replies... i'll be checking out the links etc and finding out all about it.

In terms of space I don't mind the space that much and I don't find it that small just in terms of what i've lived in before. Looking around there'd be space for things needed obviously not a nursery with all the bits and bobs but the things that are needed.

My friend actually lived in a similar space with a 7 year old AND a new baby alongside her fiance and although again it wasn't ideal it was doable.

If i'm looking to leave it until I can get a bigger place it will be a while like I said it's not cheap here at all and I would begrudge paying a lot more rent for a bigger place to pay off someone elses mortgage. In a few years I'll be in a position to put a deposit down on somewhere and my job's pretty stable so if all stays well I won't be without a job.

It's just deciding the right time. Financially nothing is going to change for us in the next few years but we'll be getting older. It's a bit depressing really but oh well!!

*goes off to check on the lottery ticket the OH had a feeling about today* first ever one i've brought!! lol!!

Thanks again for all your advice everyone.
