Find is ironic (never really understood the reasoning behind it) that you'd spend £1000 plus on a laptop with its own propreity OS and then buy and install Windows.0

You might have a bit of software that doesn't work in OSX. There's no way around that other than installing the OS it does work on in some way or another (whether that be as a virtual machine or natively though Boot Camp).0 -
To me though it would make more sense that if I had a bit of software I needed windows for I would buy a windows laptop.0

That would depend whether you wanted to use Windows for everything else other than that particular bit of software. You may also have software that only works in OSX too.0 -
Each to their own, its obviously their money they're spending. But you wouldn't catch me in that situation.0

I have a few laptops couple of macs and a couple of pc's. For ppl who have maybe saved up for ages to get there mac and have not got other machines to fall back on, boot camp is really good for them. Did you know microsoft office is the best selling piece of mac software and apples market share went up 2% when they promoted dual booting!
I cant live without notepad++ so linux with it running in wine is my only real option. For .net work I use a windows box just makes sence really. visual studio is a great piece of software much better than x code. Dev tools is somthing microsoft have been really good at.
