If it's nothing to do with Skodafone, how do you get billed?0

Searcher wrote:I'm fnding it very difficult to believe that he's getting these messages simply because he went online briefly. I spend a lot of time online on my phone and have never had one piece of spam or a reverse charge text messages.
What I do get however is quite a bit of spam from a pemium rate adult text service but that is only because I texted the shortcode in the first place. (Without going into too much detail the company I work for is involved with premium rate SMS and texting the shortcode is somethig I have to do for testing purposes)
One of the first messages he got should have contained instructions on how to stop the messages and is usually nothing more complicated than texting the word STOP to the shortcode.
Just out of interest what was the shortcode he is getting the messages from?
*EDIT - I just realised the contradiction up there, what I mean is I have never had any unsolicited spam caused by going online. I know the origin of the spam messages I get and I know why I get them.[/QUOTE]
I have had unsolicited adult text messages advertising themselves. Strange thing is that they didn't have a number they came from or a number to stop them. I received 3 and they stopped on their own. This was also on Vaodafone, in fact they are well know for the problem the OP has. I have just cancelled my contract after being with them for 6 years, terrible customer service.0 -
If you were "had" by Netsize or Wixawin.com (as one of their sites is known) see my posing about their SMS Rip-Off under Netsize (I'm no very good at using these forums yet!) - Regards, Nebula0

As someone said before the only way they get your number is if you give it to them they dont hack it or anything like that. Wixawin got me because a friend from face book sent me an iq test app it says see if you can beat my score or something along those lines so i went ahead and did the test, it then asks you for your mobile number to get the results of your test. Like a fool i entered my number and by doing this i had subscribed , although i did get my test score to which was terrible by the way. Luckily im on pay as u go and had no credit so i never lost any money, but if i had by subscribing i would have lost 5 pounds plus 4 messages a week at a cost of 1 pound each. If this does happen to you the best way to unsubscribe is through the internet site as it wont cost you unlike sending the stop message or ringing the help line. A good rule to follow would be not to give your phone number to any online sites, imo theres no reason they should need it apart from to con you out of some cash.0
