Delayed debit card payments

Hi all,
I checked my Lloyds TSB account online this morning to discover a debit of £64 taken from my account by Occado on 3rd April and since I had not placed an order with them this week queried this with the bank who told me to call Occado.
This I did and it transpires that the payment was for a delivery made and received on 29th February! Occado claim they requested the payment on 1st March and say that the money was not released to them by the bank. The bank say that Occado did no such thing and if they did were funds available to cover the payment.
However, Occado failed to request the money until 2nd April and I have asked for an explanation ASAP
I find it absurd that if the delivery was made why didn’t Occado request the payment? Why has it taken so long for them to do so?
I appreciate I should have checked this sooner but even so I think this delay is unacceptable.
Has this happened to anyone else?

It is up to you to monitor your bank account, why did you not notice that the payment had not been taken at the time. There can be any number of reasons why the payment was not taken and you can be sure that the bank, merchant and retailer will blame each other no matter who is actually to blame. They could have left it six years to claim the money from you.0

This happens quite often with Supermarkets. My Mum had a payment go out of hers from Tesco that was from a month or two back. It's annoying but at the end of the day, it's your duty to keep an eye of payments going in/out of your account.~
Heaven's heard me calling. The stars have all aligned.0
