Well, I was going to answer this very simply, but on reflection, I trust you know it's not an Android machine.
I don't know what you mean by google apps, are there specific apps you'd like to see made for WebOS too?
Here is a quickly googled website of some apps that may help, sorry if I've misunderstood you completely.0 -

There is an app store but you can't always get the same apps as on Android. You can't get google apps for example but there is a maps app and various other ones to do similar things.
Another option is to go to rootzwiki (http://rootzwiki.com/forum/278-cyanogenmod-hp-touchpad/) and install Android's Ice Cream Sandwich if you're fairly techie...0 -
You can use GMail in the built in email programme, Google Docs in Picsel Office (I think?) or another Office app I can't remember the name of. So yes lots of Google stuff works in webOS, but what I think you mean is apps that run on the Android OS - no you can't. You can however install Android (the latest version, Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3) alongside webOS, and choose which OS to boot into when you switch the Touchpad on.
If you've ever flashed the ROM of an Android phone, this will be familiar enough, but otherwise it's quite techie to get it installed, but once it IS installed, it's really great. It does take up a wee bit of space of course, but overall I'm really impressed with how well it runs.
Is there a specific app or type of app you want to run and there may be webOS alternatives?
Have a look at this guide and see if it's too daunting:

sorry what i meant is to run android apps, like the app where you guess the drawings and such, not that many free apps on hp apps. but as you may have guess i'm not a techie.
i think i did mean the ice cream sandwich but it will be to difficult for me to do myself0 -
Don't write it off as an idea too soon Kathryn, I installed Android on my touchpad last weekend and I'm not very techie. The instructions were fairly simple. I'm really happy with it, like having a new pad.0

I am cack handed at computers but after a while and with help of the forums I managed to do this.
