Just gone through the booking process, and Astaroth is right, that website is very strange. I assumed that there must be other t & c's (because to me they are not terms and conditions), but apparently not!

I would be inclined to do some more research on this company, as I am quite weary as to their status. Do you know anybody that has used them before?

The fact that their website is a co.uk address does not mean that the country is a UK one, many scammers (and I'm not saying that they are scammers) use co.uk to lure customers in.

Acccording to the UK site :
Suncamp holidays UK is a division of the Dutch company of the same name

    So the HQ's website is : http://www.suncamp.nl

(unfortunately I can not read Dutch so not much help!)

Don't want to cause worry needlessly, but on Companies House, Sun Camp UK is showing as dissolved.

Though I don't speak Dutch, I get the impression that the .nl website is identical to the UK site.

You need to speak to them about the status of their company ASAP.

    Are they ABTA bonded?

The UK site is registered to a Netherlands address:

    Registrant:
    ACSI Holding b.v.

    Registrant's address:
    Wageningsestraat 43
    Zetten
    6671 DA
    Netherlands

Just having a look around the Suncamp site again and I noticed on this page :

    http://www.suncampholidays.co.uk/privacy-statement/110/

    That :

But they charged me in pounds - surely I should be asking them for money?!?

Also a quick thanks to everyone on the Vent board - I've only had one reply so far on the Travel forum...

I really think these are a dodgy outfit (though in this instance would be very happy to be proved wrong).

Is it possible for them to waive the cancellation fee due to their mistake, and you take your business elsewhere?

Yes, they will waive the cancellation fee and I could book directly with the campsite for about £15 cheaper than they are now asking for (which I would be tempted to do as a matter of principle).

Also, Suncamp are not ABTA registered

However, I have an update on the situation -

At work I have an "employee assistance programme" and they deal with many things including consumer law. I've been on the phone to them and they have offered some useful advice which I have put in an email to Suncamp UK (who in turn will need to forward it to Holland).

The salient points from the email I sent are as follows :
According to English Law, once the contract has been confirmed (i.e. booking confirmation received, deposit money taken from our account) then both parties are bound by the Price and Terms and Conditions agreed.

As the contract has been confirmed, the Trader (i.e. Suncamp Holidays) can not alter the price stated and both parties are bound by this contract.

The Trader will carry the burden of any shortfall in price and therefore we are not liable to pay the extra amount that you are requesting.

Should Suncamp Holidays decide to cancel their part of the contract we are within our rights to request compensation and/or to take Suncamp Holidays to court for breach of contract under "Specific Performance".

I will keep you all posted!
