Hey folks,
Just a bit of advice if anyone can help? I currently bank with LLoyds TSB, where I have held accounts for years. I currently have a Premier Account, Credit Card and loan.
Due to the possibility of being forced to move to the Co-op because I am a Scottish customer (if the sale goes through) I decided to open a Bank of Scotland Classic Account today. Input all details and got a message at the end saying I would hear from them in 7 days. Just wondered if this is the norm? Im used to getting instant acceptance from LLoyds TSB and since they are under the same banner, just thought that Bank of Scotland would be the same.
Any folks recently opened an account with the Bank of Scotland that can share their experience as to how they found it, when they got account details and card through etc?
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks xxx

Yes it is normal for BoS/Halifax to tell you that they are reviewing their application and will get in touch...though at times I have had applications go through first time - so not sure what really triggers it0

They'll have three levels when you apply for a credit product: accept, refer or decline.
Accept = an instant 'yes'.
Refer = application needs to be looked at by a real person - I imagine that this is what is happening with yours.
Decline = an instant 'no'.0 -
Oh right, I wonder why that is then? I've never had this before and its only a Classic Account that I have asked for. Checked credit files (have online access) and nothing untoward. Might go into branch tomorrow and see if there is a problem. Thanks for your reply xCurrent Accounts with Lloyds TSB and Bank of Scotland

Hey folks,
Just a wee update. Went into a Bank of Scotland branch today and they were able to check their system with my personal details and I have a new account with the overdraft that I requested :T.
Just for anyone else that is applying for accounts online with BOS, if you are a new customer apparently they don't give you an instant decision anymore so its normal to get the 7 day message.
Was fair impressed with the service I received in branch this morning, so hopefully off to a good start.

Glad you got the account, I applied for a LTSB and also got that message, I applied for their Silver account. Anyway, got a Welcome Pack about 4 day's later as I did it over the weekend.
Debit card arrived the day after very fast service!0 -
Thanks Bosie,
Yeah, they said that given it is the holiday weekend, I will prob get my card around Thursday.
I can totally recommend Lloyds TSB, I have been with them for years and never had anything but the best service. I've only opened the Bank of Scotland account in case the Lloyds TSB sale goes through. I live in Scotland so all branches up here are transferring to the Co-op (if it goes ahead), which I'm not too happy aboutx
