Overpayment of Jobseekers

Hi,
I was made my sons appointee when he turned 16, he is now 23.He was receiving disability Living allowance as he is Epileptic, last April 2011 he was declined for this benefit, he continued to sign on for Jobseekers Allowance, they incorrectly paid him, as if he was still receiving Disability Living allowance and have now sent me a demand for over £2500 stating that I should have informed them of the change of circumstances, surely as this was a DWP decision they should have known. Is this correct? They have never advised me of this error until now although a couple of months ago the benefit amount was reduced and when my son called them they advised him this was due to an incorrect amount being paid, it was never discussed with me. The benefit was never paid directly to me.
Thanks

I think you will find it is up to you to inform them of any change, I dont think DLA has anything to do with DWP (could be wrong about that of course) so would not inform anyone that you either recieve or lose DLA.not all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!0
