Scottish Power - meter change

Scottish are due to change over my meter, they believe that the meter is in an awkard position and the chap says he'd report this back? Ther is a latch in our toliet and the meter is via latch on ceiling. He basically said we'd need to rip down the ceiling to allow him access. Is this right? Who would cover any costs of work should the ceiling need to be removed to allow scottish power access to change over meter?

It would be yourself to cover the costs.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

What is the historical background to the meter (now) being in an "awkward" postion? By "latch" do you mean "hatch". Is it too small for access? Would a bigger "hatch" suffice? Where is your consumer unit? Where is the supply cut-out?

Answers will help determine who and what is "awkward".

Its the meter operators property so they need access to view or change it.

So, if he can't do the work he will have to abort the job and report it back. Your supplier will be informed and I would be surprised if they did anything as this is often not even the customers fault.

My question is, did you build whatever is in he way after they fit the meter? If yes, you have blocked their access and would incur any costs. If they for the meter position afterwards (in a new build), they have caused it, tell them its their fault.

Are they replacing the meter due to age (recertification)? There are many meters out there past their age due to tricky situations so you have time to argue it. Its also possible its just the new meter since sometimes you end up with a larger meter.

You could always insist on an opinion of a supervisor.
