Switched to First Utility - Problem
[FONT="]I've just recently moved from Scottish Hydro via uswitch to First Utility's iSave Dual Fuel V9 tarrif. Everything pointed to a saving in the region of £240. Now that I've moved, First Utility have come back with my year estimate which is £500 more than before!! I've emailed their customer services repeatedly but I'm just getting a generic holding statement. In the meantime they are plundering my account (via direct debit) for the amount they say I owe them. Any suggestions of what I should do??

Is their calculation based on the same values used in terms of consumption for when you did the comparison?

An obvious possible problem is that a few months winter consumption is not necessarily a good indicator of estimated annual consumption.
You need to ensure that your bills are based on actual consumption not estimated consumption. First Utility should have obtained your annual consumption for the previous 12 months. You need to ask them what it is (in kWhrs). If you do not agree with the annual consumption projection that is something to "complain" about, not the "£500".
Though I think a "complaint" is premature, if you have complained (which is your right), and you remain dissatisfied 8 weeks after first complaining you are entitled to ask the Energy Ombudsman to consider the complaint.0
