Buying a house where neighbour uses the driveway

separate driveways for me every time. I would avoid this and think you would have trouble selling it on in the future too.

I would also never buy a house that has a driveway shared with a neighbour, particularly in the circumstances described by the OP.

My parents 1920s semi shares a drive with a neighbour's (non-attached) house and whilst my parents have recently given up driving and no longer have a car, their neighbours (two cars) have always 'taken liberties' and parked both in the drive, rather than in the (admittedly small) garage, even when my parents still had a car. Not only that, but their friends and relatives also park up and across the drive making it hard for our family to park when visiting

I would avoid at all costs.......

I had a similar situation with a house I previously bought (and sold a few years ago). It was one of a row of 8 terraced houses and behind was a business with a large drive and parking area. Two houses at the opposite end to mine had a right of vehicular access whereas the rest only had pedestrian access. On speaking to the vendor I quickly realised they had 'for years' crossed the drive/car park area and parked their car in their garden. I found out that the previous owners had also done the same. I knew there was a risk of this permission being ceased by I also knew after 20 years of unchallenged access it automatically became a right of way. So I obtained affidavit's for both sets of owners to confirm they enjoyed unchallenged access which bought it to 15 years only, shy of the 20 years to pursue a right of way. So bought the property in the hope I could also enjoy unchallenged access and eventually get the right added to the deeds. Unfortunately it was not to be. Shortly after moving in other neighbours who had also enjoyed unchallenged access abused the access and after another year the business wrote to all of the neighbours formally withdrawing access. I sold the property a few years back now but they have now installed a barrier. Big risk but I was happy to take it incase it paid off. There was an alternative parking option - on road only.
