NCD - can I carry this?

I am looking for a quote for my OH for van insurance, time is running out as it is due for renewal on Saturday.
I have based my enquiries on 1 year NCD, as he has only had the van for a year, but has full no claims on his car.
I have just re-read the new quote from his current insurer, and this is stating 7 years unprotected NCD. I think that they matched his car insurance when I took out both car and van policies with them last year.
Can I specify 7 years no claims now when looking for new quotes?

As long as the letter doesnt state anything about the NCD being a gesture of good will/ special scheme etc then there should be no issue. Some insurers do note that the NCD has been gained through an accelerator scheme etc in which case it is down to individual other insurers to decide if they accept it or not... the original insurer obviously does this in an attempt to tie someone into the brand.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Id Specify The 7 As When The New Insurer On The Van Requests Proof, You Will Be Able To Send The Renewal Notice Which Says 7 And Not 1 Anyway.0
