Best oven cleaner

Okay everyone

I'm wondering what, in your opinion is the best oven cleaner and indeed the best thing to then scrub with?

I'm not afraid of a bit of elbow grease so doesn't have to be the 'spray and leave for 58,000 hours'.

Bought a nice second hand oven yesterday but the previous owner has not cleaned it for some time so needs a thoroughly good going over :o

    We have always been told by the guy that cleans ours once a year to use Fairy Power Spray on it between cleans

    Another vote for Oven Pride ....... then buy the oven mats from Lakeland.

    Another one for oven pride, I was so amazed to watch the dirt just lift effortlessly from the shelves to leave them looking brand new, works so fast as well.

    P.S - yes, what is an oven mat? The only think i can think of is that it's something that protects the bottom of the oven?
