the problem with July/August travel is you just don't know if there will be loads of deals or very few. Have a read of martins tips on how to barter down prices so you're prepared whenever you book! If your prepared to be flexible on destination you'll get a better deal. Spain can be wonderful (I lived there for 6 years), but other places are less expensive when your there, like Turkey which is much less expensive and offers excellent value if your on a tight budget. Check out the brochures now to see the difference in prices. Theres also Portugal, Greece etc to consider. Booking at the last minute is not always the best way to secure a bargain - particularly if you have to travel in high season. Have a look at the deals on https://www.teletextholidays.co.uk - and that'll give you an idea of what companies are offering what deals. Also go to the websites of the big tour operators and see what deals they offer. Usually you'll pay more on the high street. Don't get your travel insurance with your holiday, you'll save a fortune getting it elsewhere - but DO get it, whatever the circumstances do not travel without it. And don't forget to get your E.11 from the post office. This is the document required for reciprical medical treatment - and you should take this with you too. Good luck, travelling is wonderful, but a little forethought can make the experience even better.0

If you leave it to the last minute, you might get the flight reduced, but the travel agents get their money back by charging £20-£30 PER TICKET to have you pick them up at the airport for instance.
At the end of the day,you choose either the high street or online depending on the
criteria-price/value for money/destination/gut feeling etc.You have to look for yourself
as its your holiday and your money.
There is no shortage of websites to view. You have "flightchecker"availble to check
right now.You can see how much flights would cost to a particular destination. If you
looked up "almeria"for example, you would get the choice of flights over several days.
If you saw one that was interesting,go to Google and type in "self catering Almeria"
and see what comes up.Try several other options until you find one that you like.Go
down the high street and see if they can beat it.You could also type in "cheap hotels almeria",and compare the prices with selfcatering. One of the reasons Turkey was mentioned is that food is a lot cheaper there than in Spain. But that is also true of
Tunisia and Morocco-and they are closer to the UK.[Agadir in South Morocco shows a
two star hotel in early July for £218 for a week inc flight from https://www.lastminute.com
People could probably give you more ideas if you gave more info-
where are you flying from
approximate departure date
number of people
children and their ages
budget
length of stay
If you live outside London especially, you could also look at https://www.whichbudget.com/en
as they include links to a lot more airlines including easyjet.
The way most budget airlines work is to sell the first tickets on a flight cheaply and
make them progressively dearer as the plane fills up.
Whereas with British Airways and the like, they start off selling at the highest price, and
reduce prices as they get closer to take off.0 -
A place where I always check for last minute holidays is:
http://www.teletextholidays.co.uk/WebHome/Homepage/Home.aspx
I have booked my last 2 holidays off here, there were both cheaper than high street prices.0 -

How can anybody be sure a companies safe? ENRON and WORLDCOM were 2 of the worlds biggest companies and they went down the pan!
My advice would be to use a credit card to book. That way you will get your money back pronto. ABTA/ATOL take forever and the last time it happened to me advised me to claim of my CC anyway(passed the buck) I did and was refunded within the week0
