Flats and dogs

Part of the attraction for buying my council flat several years ago was the 'no dog' clause in the Tenancy Agreement. Without notice the Council has changed this clause and now anyone can have a dog or dogs without seeking permission.

This has meant there are now only 2 flats out of 8 without them, so now 8 dogs. With the accompanying smell, mess and noise.

Has anyone had the same experience, is there any redress or action I can take?

No. Even with a no dogs policy, the majority of councils have failed to ever enforce this clause since the dawn of council tenancies.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I doubt it, unless there's serious issues.

When you say smells and mess do you mean in communal gardens/hallways? Smell from urine or just doggy smells?

There's unfortunately no legal action you can take.

However, if you get a large pot, you'll find the Chinese are right in this - dog does stew well........

But remember, dogs have sharp teeth, so you could end up as it's meal if attempting to round one up for the pot!
