Running an extension

My present set up consists of a BT master socket in the hall and an extension socket in a bedroom. The master socket is connected to the phone and the extension is used to connect my broadband. Both have filters installed.
I now wish to run an additional extension downstairs and am thinking of doing that by putting a splitter in to the master socket and running a plug-in extension from that. Thing is will I need more filters and how should those associated with the master socket be sited?
Are there other options that are not inordinately more expensive and does what I am intending have any particular downside? Any commetns or recommendations will be graciously taken.

Filters are only required if the extention is hard wired in to the back of the socket, if you use the splitter method then you need to plug everything in to the internal side of the filter not the filter in to the splitter.0
