I have a denon dvd-500 surround sound thats been working perfectly for the past few years but the other day it stopped suddenly. There is still sound coming out of the speakers when i do a test sound, but its a loud humming not the tv noise. Ive checked and all settings are right, the wires are all in right and havent come loose either. Im totally stuck as to what to try next. Has anyone got any ideas please?
thanks

Do you only have one input to the amp? You need to establish which part's failed. The fact that the speaker test work suggest it's not the speakers (very unlikely, anyway, as they've all stopped)...so the remaining options are the amp or the input...do you have a dvd etc too? Does the sound work there?
Have you tried changing the TV to a different input?
It's strange that the sound test should work but not the rest...0 -

Have you tried a master reset? not sure how to do it on yours, but should be in the manual.
And then just double check the wires make sure they have not been damaged.ewwwww what is that...0 -
ive just tried a dvd and that isnt working either - just sound from the actual tv and not surround sound.........im thinking myself it is the input but ive twiddled with settings and cannot sort it ......not sure what you mean by amp?.......
im going to read the manual and see how to do the master reset and fingers crossed that will work.........
