You'd probably be better off getting a Truecall device.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I can recommend truecall if you prepared to pay around £90 it can do so more than block calls ie record calls made, log calls made etc

I have had mine 2 years and havent had a single cold call yet I still get them had one other day from PPI company but truecall blocked them

I came across this when searching for a solution:

    http://www.callpreventionregistry.co.uk/products.html

They offer a 30 day moneyback guarantee, and do a so called "telephone buyer" offer of £20 off (if you order over the phone), though this is not a recommendation and I have no connection with them. The 30 day trial does appeal though.

Lots of reviews on that blocker http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B004BTVQ5E/ref=cm_cr_dp_all_helpful?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending Well worth reading

I considered it myself but for ease of use (and working 100% of the time) the Panasonic option worked out well for me.

Forget blocking 'phone calls - pick the 'phone up and when they say is Mr/Mrs Smith there? (For example). You say 'Who?' Mr/Mrs Smith have never lived here. I think you have the wrong number, goodbye!!'

Wow, so simple it's almost brilliant.

I like blocking people I know (or knew), organisations and numerous other people I wouldn't want at my door.

I don't want to speak with them at all. That's why it's called 'blocking'.

This morning I got a call from an Indian call centre who addressed me as "Heater" instead of "Heather", that got my back up straight away

He said his name was David calling from "UK Today", I said that if his name was David and he was calling from the UK then I was the Pope!

I promptly told him where to go and put the phone down.

Then this afternoon I got another call (a different number displayed on the phone). I answered and asked if this was David calling again, when you deviate from the standard script it throws them, then I plucked up the courage to ask him what he was wearing, he promptly hung up on me! Result! :money:

I have a Panasonic phone with the call bar list and I bar any new ones that come up, but trouble is their number probably changes every day, so probably a pointless exercise!
