Hi all
Can someone remind me which are the best heaters take along to static caravans?
We always have a standard van because of the dog - and have always managed with thermals, extra duvets / sleeping bags, slippers and fleece dressing gowns - we are quite hardy! We live without gas central heating at home but have wood burners in all downstairs rooms - we are used to cold bedrooms but i do like a cosy living room. So i am thinking of buying a cheap electric heater to take away with us as this snow looks quite deep, and i know the gas fires take while to heat up the living room and that the caravans are not insulated at all.
Can anyone recommend an electric heater that will not trip the electrics at Haven?
Also if anyone else is going on a northern uk holiday i would recommend taking a camping lantern / torches as we have had powercuts all morning here.
thanks
a few weeks ago sitting in the garden at 20 degrees i did get my hopes up about a warm EAster holiday - oh well - it was a nice dream...

Ask at the office what your max ampage is, Oil filled rads are pretty cheap and efficient using less power as oil holds heat longer.
Just bear in mind when you got it on avoid using too many high consuming items - Kettle / Toaster / Hair Dryer or Straighteners / Elec Shower if fitted, these are the big users so just limit to two of these at a time if possible0 -
or come further South :rotfl: nice sunshine down ere !!0

I brought my daughter home from hospital in Wrexham yesterday evening - all the way through llangollen and Bala it was blizzard conditions and the mountains down here are white over - its freezing, Id go with the oil fired heater idea, once you get the caravan warm it will be lovely and cosy, plus the gas fires inside are very efficient.
Have a nice time!I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.
Bipolar for all0 -
We took one of those little portable fan heaters to Northumberland last October and it was freezing up there. The heater warmed up the van in no time. It took about 5 mins to warm up the kids room before they went bed and same for our room x0

I would go for one of those small blow heaters - they quickly warm up a room we have a little Glen one it's fab.
Hope your having a nice time.0 -
I would put my money on a little oil raidiator, i had one which was 700watts and it warmed our caravan up, we left it on all the time on its thermostat. I made a point of looking for the consumer unit though just in case it tripped, but it never did. (Was in the biggest bedroom wardrobe!)
We stayed at Hafan y Mor haven during March, we put the radiator in the hall and left the bedroom doors open and it kept them aired if not hot!0 -
