We are looking to do some work to house and hubby applied for a virgin % credit card on sunday with the intention of doing a money transfer to bank account for the work, and having it paid off before the 20 month 0% finishes.

Approved online for £7,900 , said we would get an email within 48 hours etc, but we forgot to write down the reference number.

Rang this morning as email never arrived and Virgin say they cannot trace application, so STUPID STUPID me I put the application through again and of course it was not approved, said they need to check some info and would hear within 7-10 days.:(

So now do not have the money for the work and have 2 searches against Virgin on credit file unneccessery. So if we now go to bank to borrow the money do you think these searches will go against us ?

Perfect credit file, no late payments etc,

Surely they can find your details from your application.

I'd wait another week (giving them 10 working days) before doing anything.

You never know, the card (from the original application) may simply turn up.

But to answer your specific question, yes two credit card searches in quick succession in the last week will almost certainly affect the loan application. That said, do you know for certain that MBNA made two searches? Maybe the second application was turned down on a 'policy rule' (ie recent application or account already established etc), meaning no CRA search was made.

A much similar thing happened to me with a Halifax application, when I tried to query something they told me there was no sign of an application ( though it had been approved) so I guess you just have to wait for it to be seen..

Anyway got the card through eventually..

Glad you got it sorted, and I guess it is the card from the first application..
