Remembering passwords/usernames

I know this isn't really a techie answer, but for a foolproof answer, why not have a handwritten sheet you can refer to?
It works for me.I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

Not a problem as long as you keep it in a safe place, well away from your computer. Depends whether you consider if somebody breaking-in to your house constitutes a risk to your pc security (probably more likely to just nick your pc).
Whatever medium you use to store your passwords you do have to have a good password security policy for when you actually need to use them. This means not using the same password for everything, using randomly generated passwords with special characters to reduce likelihood of dictionary attack, and change your passwords frequently.
btw - no security is 'foolproof,' it's all about risk reduction.

Thanks
What EXACTLY is your problem ?
Is it the thread title? "REMEMBERING passwords/usernames"
OR the start of your opening sentence? "Fed up with typing usernames and passwords everytime"....

I don't think its a great idea having the stored on your PC from a safety pony of view. My monitor is normally festooned with whitelabels with them written down.0

I use AccountLogon
http://www.accountlogon.com/
It will store your usernames and passwords and will also log you into protected websites you register with.
Only have to remember the password to open this software.
Been using it for ages now and have not had any problems.
Cant remember what I had to pay to register after the free trial.0 -
Yeh, you will be safe with the encryption... software and other encryped files never get decrypted...
If you're going to use password safe or any other password programs then at least make sure your up-to-date with the latest version...0 -
I actually store my passwords using encryption but, as a further safety measure, I also 'encode' the password when I type it in. This means I can keep a written copy in a safe that no-one will understand (just in case encrypted copy is lost).
All the examples below are fictitious but indicate what may be done:
For instance, if I write down MIDDLELINE I know this means a line of numbers from a device I use very day.
IF I write ANIMAL I know this means LEOPARD.
If I write down WHAT I WON I know this means the number of pounds I won in a competition.
If I write ADD ANIMAL MIDLINE I know I add the two word to create a password.
If I write MIX ANIMAL MIDLINE I know I take alternate letters from the two words to create a password (starting with the letter from ANIMAL). MIX MIDDLELINE ANIMAL gives a different password.
To create a password I use at least two or three words that are added and/or mixed, also ensuring that both letters and numbers are used.
If you use strong encryption and some method to encode passwords I think it safe to store passwords on a remote server so that they will be accessible if you want access to them from other computers.
You also need some way of encoding the account providers names and any fixed User IDs - just use your imagination! These can be stored separate to the passwords.
Diana Dors died leaving lots of accounts in false names. The names/account numbers (which were written in a book) were recently decoded but the account providers (apparently written in a book, yet to be found) are not yet known!0
