Travel Insurance that covers Avios miles if you can't fly

Does anyone know of a Travel Insurance Company that will cover the value of the Avios miles used in the case of a hitch that cancels the proposed holiday...

If the only answer is Avios themselves, how competitive are they.

I plan to use 300,000 to go to Madeira for a fortnight

Have a search on MSE for Travel Insurance in relation to Tesco clubcard points. I am sure there was another company, other than Tesco Insurance, who could cover the points/vouchers used. I don't think Tesco will cover your points, but they did once cover their own clubcard members.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

For reference, in case anyone else needs this info

The answer to my own question

    www.travelinsuranceweb.com

On looking at these, I noticed there was a warning given about them on here in 2006, but they appear to have cleaned their act up, as they've(according to Google) just been given the Which Magazine Good Value Award...(or something along those lines)

Although they dont mention Avios by name, they do say in their FAQs that Air miles or any vouchers/rewards used to pay for the trip, are covered.

Avios arent aware of any other company covering their points.

I got annual coverage including insurance for Pre existing medical conditions, for a lot less than Avios/Their Medical Screening Company offered.

When it was 'airmiles' you could buy insurance from them to cover your miles, and it was quite cheap. Perhaps avios do the same, so might be worth a phone call or a browse on the avios site. HTH

Avios gave me a number for the Screening Service they use, but unfortunately they wouldnt cover what I wanted. Unfortunately even without the medical cover their premium was a lot higher than the company I eventually went with, which included medical cover.

Yes, they do, unfortunately their Medical Screening is pretty strict, and they wouldnt cover me.

I've got a quote for avios insurance for when Im travelling to australia next month and by paying with avios points seems pretty competitive at the moment. Trouble is I need extra insurance for pre existing medical insurance and they want me to phone a number to get that which I dont want to do and will have to pay in £ anyway and not use avios points.
I have found a good quote using the link leadhead gave above but that doesnt cover avios points.
Would it be possible for me to take out 2 insurance policies.
Avios plus the one that covers pre existing medical conditions insurance that I've found.

There's nothing to stop you having 2 policies, but you will only be able to claim on one for most things.

I'm not understanding why you are not getting a quote from Avios for the PEMCs when you are intending paying another company anyway?

They wont do the PEMC bit online. Only by phone.
Hate using the phone especially when asked numberous questions as hard of hearing.
Would rather get a quote online.
