Shopping costs you more at Co-op when it applies a "better deal". Check your totals. Email sent off to customer services as follows........
I was shopping at your Inverness, Telford Street branch on Saturday 7/4 and ended up paying more money when the till applied a "better offer".
I always try to know how much my bill will come to when shopping to avoid the embarrassing situation when you dont have enough money on you and especially when there are special offers on to make sure they all kick in.
I was buying 3 meal deals and wasn't sure if the powerade drinks were in the deal so I had these items go through first and asked the checkout operator what the sub-total was and she confirmed it was £9. So I now knew that my shopping should come to £13.45. When it went through it was £13.80, so after I paid I went over to the side to check the receipt.
After the meal deal items I had 2 Pepsi max (2 for 1.80, running total £10.80) then 2 slices at 1 pound each (12.80) then finally a crunchie for 65p, making 13.45. But the til spit shows "better offer applied" total £13.80! I know it was only 35p more but there is a principle here.
I went to customer services and they could not work out why this offer was not working and went into training mode on the till to test it out. They put through the meal deal items with the crunchie as one of the snacks (i did not know this was included) and the till showed £9.00. Then the Pepsi and the till showed £10.80. Then the 2 slices, till showed £12.80. All well and good. Then she scanned the packet if crisps for 58p and it added £1 to the total - £13.80! With the crunchie being part of the meal deal this meant I was now being charged 42p more!
I think part of the problem is the meal deal combinations because not only have you got the 3 items for £3, but the cheese layered salad had "2 for £3.50" stickers on and the powerade looks like it may be on "buy one get one free" although there was no sign on the shelf but receipt shows a link save. Can the tills accurately get the best deal for the customer when there are at least 3 promotions going at the same time?
Eventually after about 45 minutes the store refunded me £1 but how many other people have paid more than they had to?
My receipt near the bottom shows the following details... "0023 4 6862 07/04/12 16:53:55 3031" so hopefully you can obtain all the items from there.I miss too many pages due to work so if you need an answer from me, please send me a PM.
