MS Office 2007 product key - best value?

Hi all. Some rather clueless questions coming up! I bought a new laptop about 18 months ago which came with a trial of MS Office Home and Student 2007. I used Word as many times as I could without entering a product key, and since then I've been using Open Office. However, I really need to be able to use Track Changes so I need to shell out for the real thing now.
Since the computer came with a trial I think I'm right in saying that I just need a product key rather than the full software package. However, I can't find Office 2007 product keys on Amazon or on the Microsoft site - does anyone know if an Office 2007 product key ( amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Office-2010-Student-Product /dp/B0039L31JY/ref=sr_1_4?s=software&ie=UTF8& qid=1333462508&sr=1-4) will work? I'm worried about spending £80 on something that might not be right.
Finally, if I do buy a 2010 product key, how does the actual installation work? I use a mobile broadband dongle and am also worried that my internet connection won't be able to cope!
(I did warn you about the clueless questions...)
Thanks very much for any replies.

You download the software and it is a couple of gig so you'd really need to take your laptop to somewhere with free wifi unless you have a massive amount of bandwidth with your mobile internet.
You can buy a physical media version of 2007 and just use the product key as long as its the same version as you have installed. I am not sure that they universally sold just keys back then, certainly the HUP made you buy the physical media where as for 2010 and 2011 you have an option of key only and the physical media adds about £10 to the price.
Do you or another member of your family work for a large organisation? If they do it is worth seeing if they take part in the Microsoft HUP as you can then buy a 2010 product key for about £10 or £20 for the key + disk. The license is legitimate but you are supposed to delete the software if you/ they stop working for the company in question.0 -
Thanks v much. Guess it might be better to buy the physical version of 2010 (only about £5 more on Amazon), then I wouldn't have to worry about downloading etc.
I do work p/t for a large company but as far as I know they don't offer this deal - will double-check though. Thanks for the tip.0 -
Its worth making enquiries.... I did many years ago and HR advised they didnt and about a month later a message was sent round saying they had a great new offer with Microsoft

You don't need the physical software, as it's already installed, just the licence key to validate it. That's what you are paying for, not the DVD.No free lunch, and no free laptop

If you can, it's worth upgrading to 2010 - it's essentially a fully debugged version of 2007 and is (IMHO) the best version of MS Office by a country mile.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -

Is it? Give me Office 2003 anyday....0 -
Yup,
I'd agree - 2003 version for me is the best.0 -
2010 is way better than 2003, i have both.

Most like 2003 simply down to it's simple user interface, nothing more.0 -
