Closing a case with a solicitor - what happens next

We advised our previous conveyancing solicitor that our sale would not be proceeding and asked that they close the case. Since then we have a new buyer but have instructed a new solicitor as we were unhappy with the previous one.
We've not heard anything from the first solicitor. What normally happens when you close a case? We've asked that they send us an invoice and all relevant documents. Will they send us all the documentation that they had on the case or just certain documents?
Any ideas?

I believe they will probably only send you documentation you have paid for or have supplied to them, but you may be lucky & they send you every single thing they have, depending on how far down the line the sale had proceeded.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
